Barry founded JANA in 2001, leads the firm and defines the strategy for JANA and its activism. During his tenure at JANA, Barry has served as a director on multiple boards including Cobra Electronics Corp., Copart, Inc., Convergys Corporation, and Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. Mr. Rosenstein is a trustee of Brown University, the U.S. Olympic Foundation, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the 92nd Street Y in New York City and a founding trustee of The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music.
Before founding JANA, Barry acted as a principal of a private equity fund, Sagaponack Partners. Prior to that, he founded and headed the investment banking and merchant banking groups of Genesis Merchant Group (1991), formed and acted as managing partner of Reatta Partners (1990) and was a principal in charge of corporate takeovers with Asher B. Edelman's Plaza Securities Corporation (1986). He began his career in 1984 as an investment banker specializing in M&A with Merrill Lynch in New York. Barry received an MBA, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business (1984) and a BA, Phi Beta Kappa, from Lehigh University (1981).
